Emerging onto the boy band scene in the early 2000s, Evalution quickly became a local sensation in their hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, drawing comparisons to acts like *NSYNC. The group consisted of Adam Farley, Brandon Gething, Larry Hickernell, and EJ Leeson, and was known for tight harmonies, polished choreography, and peak early-2000s boy band energy—intentionally setting themselves apart with their unique spelling: E-V-A-L-U-T-I-O-N.
The band would go on to release their first studio single, which featured the hit song “React” and the fan favorite ballad written by Larry and Brandon, “Out of Sight.” The single, produced by Jim Reynolds, was recorded at the historic Cameron Studios in Scranton, owned by his grandfather. From the creation of the iconic double vocal on "React" to the overwhelming support that propelled their single to #1 at Eric's CD Mine, the band enjoyed remarkable local success.
Additionally, their energetic live performances allowed them to book gigs all over NEPA, including Hawthorn Hall at East Stroudsburg University, the JCC, Bangor Heights Hall, and many other notable venues, where they captivated audiences and built a loyal fanbase that followed them well beyond their years as a boy band. Though Evalution’s journey ended in 2002, their legacy lived on. Some members, including Adam, EJ, and Larry, went on to form a new band called Project 5, carrying that momentum forward and continuing their creative journey.

In the early 2000s, Evalution took the stage at East Stroudsburg University alongside their friends, The Best Next Thing, delivering a high-energy night of pop hooks, harmonies, and unforgettable college-era vibes.
It felt like popping a well-worn VHS tape into a dorm-room TV and watching it slip through a portal—glitchy, loud, and frozen in the best possible moment.
The show marked a standout moment for both bands, blending hometown pride with packed-crowd energy and solidifying Evalution’s growing presence across Northeastern Pennsylvania’s live music scene.

Evalution was more than a boy band — it was a launchpad. Adam Farley brought the vision and front-and-center energy that helped shape the group’s sound and presence. Brandon Gething added smooth vocals and stage confidence, grounding the harmonies that defined the band. Larry Hickernell’s charisma and musical instinct helped elevate every performance, while EJ Leeson delivered consistency, heart, and the kind of reliability every great group needs.
Together, they turned local stages into moments, college shows into memories, and a Scranton-born idea into a regional movement. While the band’s official run ended in 2002, each member carried that experience forward — into new music, new projects, and new chapters. The sound may have evolved, but the legacy remains in motion.
